Tour descriptor and FAQ

The South 24th Street Walking Tour has from 5-15 participants taking an approximate 90-minute walk along five to six blocks.  A paid tour guide leads the group to 8-10 sites and engages the participants between these sites.

What is the schedule for tours?

The tour schedule in 2010 will run from March 20 thru October 16.  Each week there will be two regular tours – Thursday at 4:30PM and Saturday at 11:00AM.  Tours require a minimun number of attendees, so check with us for final registration.

Other tours can be scheduled at any time and day with a minimum of 5 paid participants at a time convenient to the participants.  A two – week notice would be appreciated.

What is the cost for the tour?

The tour cost is $10/person.  Groups of ten or more will receive a discounted rate.

How does one pay for the tour?

Please use the PayPal system on the website to pay using your credit card or PayPal.  Groups that arrange for tours well in advance can negotiate other methods of payment with Omaha Main Streets.  If a last minute attendee arrives, exact cash only will be accepted at the beginning of the tour.

Where does the tour begin?

The tour begins on the steps in front of El Museo Latino at 4701 South 25th Street.

Where is parking available?

Street parking is open just south of El Museo on both the east and west sides of 25th Street.

What happens if the weather is bad?

The tour will occur unless Omaha Main Streets informs the attendees that the tour has been cancelled for that day.  New dates will be scheduled for participants.  In case of quick-changing weather, tour guides and participants will use common sense judgment.

Are all the areas of the tour accessible?

Curb cuts for wheelchairs can be had at each corner.  Walk-in sites may have alternate entrances, if needed.

What can make the tour easy and fun for me?

  1. Wear a comfortable pair of shoes and dress for the time of year and current weather.
  2. Public restrooms are not available – though you may be able to use a site restroom.
  3. Be prepared to engage the tour guide and other registrants.
  4. Tell your own story about the history, the street, the cultural elements, the arts, and the architecture of South 24th Street in Omaha, Nebraska.
