The South Omaha Historic District extends along South 24th Street generally from M to O Streets and consists of 33 civic and commercial buildings. These were erected between 1890 and 1910 and are 1-4 stories in height and predominantly of the two-part commercial block style, that is, public, retail space on the first floor and private, business or residential space on the upper floors. The facades are limited, but show Romanesque and Prairie School looks. Although ground-floor storefront alterations affect most all the buildings, the historic and architectural integrity continues to be present.

Significant Architects

  • John Latenser - South Omaha City Hall
  • Thomas Kimball - Packers National Bank building
  • James T. Allen - Roseland Theater
